Padan riding Bravo Blue at Groton House
I’ve been riding horses since I was 3 years old. Now approaching eighth grade, I have been trained in many disciplines, including hunters, jumpers, polo and eventing. Of all my training, I enjoy eventing the most because it challenges me to excel in three different disciplines.
Since horses are my lifelong passion, I aspire to be a Veterinarian and attend Tufts, Cornell, or another prestigious University, to prepare me to help equine athletes perform at their best. To prepare for this, I expect to intern with a local vet in the coming year. I am also looking for opportunities to get more hands on experience, such as private schooling and mentorships. In the longer term, to further develop my riding and training skills, I also hope to travel to Europe and extend my learning beyond the United States.
In addition to achieving either honor roll or high honors since sixth grade, I am especially proud of my equestrian achievements. Most notably, I have learned so much in the process of training off-the-track Thoroughbreds. My father, Charles Coles, a polo player, found my current mount, Bravo Blue, at Suffolk Downs. In the four years we have trained together, “Blue” has transformed from a timid – at times, scared, prospect – to a top competitor in multiple events. I am so grateful for the opportunity to realize such a special bond with my equine partner, and it is my goal to help others find the same satisfaction.
